I've been on a Doc Savage kick lately and picked this two-parter up. I thought it was great! A fun yarn that is appropriately equal in terms of supporting casts and tone. I'm glad I got this.

Stevens is credited to the cover of issue 2 also, but so are the interior artists. I'm guessing he only did the breakdown.

Less interesting was the 4-part DOC SAVAGE: CURSE OF THE FIRE GOD. The covers by Gary Gianni are incredible, they perfectly capture the pulp tone you want from Doc Savage. The interiors have '90s sub-Image artwork. A total clash that goes against the tone of the cover, stories and characters. The story wasn't bad and with better art it could have been great.

Matt Wagner is interviewed about the new Shadow series he's doing for Dynamite, The Death Of Margo Lane.
